10 Natural Remedies That Help Anxiety

There can be no mistaking it – we all lead lives that are filled with stress, pressure, and anxiety and things aren’t getting any better.

The world around us has changed so fast and continues to change on a daily basis. The “old rules” of gracious conduct in our society have for the most part fallen by the wayside and replaced mostly by casual encounters rather than meaningful engagement. Even some Christians have found themselves mentally and emotionally distracted by all the noise and buzz of modern life.

Unfortunately, all of this stress, pressure, and anxiety has led to some pretty serious and negative impacts on our society. Worst of all, it’s becoming even more challenging to eliminate the stress and pressure that we are feeling on a daily basis letting anxiety take over our minds and bodies.

1. Take A Timeout

One of the most important things you can do when you are feeling overwhelmed as a Christian is to take a couple of moments of your time every day to really reflect on all of the abundance you enjoy with God. Think about how God blesses you with each breath, each heartbeat, and with ability to focus on Him. Develop and attitude of gratitude.

This technique is a powerful weapon in the fight against stress and pressure, because it redirects the mind to focus on God rather than the problem. You’ll find it almost impossible to continue feeling poorly when you know that you have so much going for you. So keep your mind on God.

2. Breath More Deeply

The way we breath has a tremendous impact on our thoughts, our energy levels, and our ability to think clearly, especially when things get stressful. By focusing on taking slow deep breaths you will be able to reset your mind. This technique will help you navigate through the stress and pressure you may be dealing with.

Oxygenating the blood and mind this way has a very soothing affect on the brain and causes a peaceful feeling inside.

3. Cleanup Your Diet

If you want to transform your consciousness and feel a lot closer to God you’ll want to overhaul your daily diet. Your body is the temple of God and as such you should take of it. Taking care of the body can have an immense impact on how you feel. Strip out the junk and you will feel healthier and stronger which will change the attitude of your mind.

4. Exercise Every Day

One of the most impactful things you can do to dramatically improve your overall wellness while at the same time helping you to feel much closer to God is to exert yourself physically. Exercising has a way of lifting the spirit while giving the body a chance to cleanse and strengthen itself. Remember, your body is the temple of God and we should maintain it as such.

Even just taking 30 minutes a day to build up a sweat will physically release a lot of the stress and pressure that you’ve been carrying around. This technique can significantly reduce anxiety you may feel.

5. Acceptance

Good Christians understand that there are things we cannot completely control. We have to consciously make the decision not to allow these things to negatively impact our lives.

Much of the stress and pressure you may deal with on a day-to- day basis stems from trying to control that which is out of your hands. So it's best to let go and move on. Allow Jesus, your Lord and Savior to literally take control. Let go, walk with the Lord, and everything will work itself out.

6. Embrace Humor

When was the last time had a good laugh? It’s almost impossible to feel anxious through laughter, so if you are able to cultivate a positive outlook and a sense of humor even when things appear very dark your outlook will dramatically improve.

Humor begins with a positive attitude. Even if you don't feel the best, pause for a few seconds, exercise for a minutes, and start thinking in positive ways. Then embrace humor and move on. Jesus stated it like this, “In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”

Simply put, negativity is darkness. Positivity is light. Jesus is light. When you embrace positive thoughts with good cheer you embrace Christ's presence, and His presence overcomes all things, even anxiety. So lighten up!

7. Meditate Often

Daily meditation not only allows you to center yourself and refocus your mind and thoughts, but also allows you to commune with God. Exposure to God's love and light will brighten your day. Meditation helps some people completely eliminate anxiety while other may feel a reduced sense of anxiety. What do you have to lose? Meditating also helps build a deeper relationship with God which can strengthen your resolve to live a happy healthy life.

8. Help Others

The odds are pretty good that your community and your local church could use more helping hands than already on board. By dedicating yourself to a life of service, you’ll be able to alleviate the anxiety and stress of others less fortunate than yourself. This technique will move the mind to focus on others rather than oneself. This is a powerful way to overcome many self afflicting conditions.

9. Wipe Out Triggers

We all have triggers that cause pain,stress, and anxiety. These triggers when not dealt with may even cause what seams like insurmountable stress and anxiety.

By rooting out these triggers and conscientiously washing them away you’ll be able to improve your life dramatically while at the same time improving the relationship with Jesus Christ. The best advice you can receive is to research your life to find out what causes stress. Then comes the tricky part that only you can answer. How do you deal with the triggers?
