Practicing God-Sized Love Christian Meditation

Author: Jeffrey Ordonez

Christian meditation or guided christian meditation is a way of cultivating God's presence through the Living Word. But without the basic fundamentals we can never hope to become more like God. One of the founding spiritual principles of Christianity is love. Not just any love, God-sized love. Without practicing God-sized love, meditation provides only half the answer to a life with God.

Today I want to talk about practicing God-Sized Love. In the four principles in becoming more like God we learned that most people with the power of their mind navigate between the forces of God and forces of evil. Thought by thought we allow for light or dark to enter the body.

We learned that from Matthew 6:22, John 14:21 and 23. From Jesus’ explanation in Matthew 6:22 and John 14:21 through 23, we can understand that union with God is possible and therefore, thinking, speaking, and acting with the mind of God is not only real but recommended by the word of God. If we want to live in the fullness of God and we are not thinking, speaking, or acting with the word of God; then we are thinking, speaking or acting with the ways of the world, which God calls darkness. With the power of our mind we are able to navigate toward God and intensify His presence in us through the study and meditation of God’s word, that’s revealed to us John 14:21 and 23.

The constant study and meditation of God’s word influences our mind and how we think, because it enters our temple and fills us with God's holy word. Any temple filled with the holy word will change in behavior begin to imitating God, that instruction is found in Matthew 5:44 through 48, where Jesus says, to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, to do good to those who hate us, and to pray for those who persecute us and use us.

We are not able to love our enemies and behave this way unless we are influenced from the inside. We cannot behave more like God unless more of God is in us. The study and meditation of God’s word places within us the qualities of God, and it is all founded in love. To love, bless, do good, and to pray for others even when it is not easy or comfortable to do so, makes us more like God because it takes God-sized love to go against the natural inclination and give our best to others when we receive the worst.

John 4:7-9 says: “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.” When we become love, we become more like God and live through Jesus our Savior. When we love, bless, do good, and pray for others even in the worst situations, we love like God and manifest Jesus to others, and through these actions we know God more intimately.

When we manifest Jesus with God-sized love, we dwell in God because God is love, that’s how the knowledge of God comes alive in us, and how God breaths fresh life in us. There is one thing that stops us from experiencing God-sized love; in order to practice a God-sized love, our worldly self must die.

John 12:25-26 says: “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.” As we relinquish the worldly self, we are better able to follow the ways of Jesus. The word “hate” in this verse, is a very strong word. It means to pursue with hatred, to detest, to persecute, or to extinguish without love. Jesus says that we are to extinguish, or to completely disavow our worldly self and follow Him. This is the will of God for all of us, and how we open the door to God.

1 John 2:15-17 says: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

By disavowing all the characteristics that drive us in the way of selfish gratification, we open the door to God and stand in the principles of selfless love, and by standing in the principles of selfless love we can do the will of God. Then God will honor us and God's honor is the individual countenance of God toward us as individuals.

Mark 10:29-31 it says: “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife: or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” This is how God honors people when they obey with God-sized love, when you disregard your will to do the will of God, God will bless you in this lifetime and the next, in the kingdom.

Jesus left an example for us to follow. He was scourged, but He never said a word. He was stripped of His clothing, they spat on Him, they pushed the crown of thorns on His head, they whipped Him, and then they nailed Him to the cross He carried. Through all this He never said a word, He was silent.

Jesus never complained, fought back, cursed and never hated. Instead Jesus loved, blessed, and prayed for those who persecuted Him. And He did all this with one sentence. In Luke 23:34 Jesus prayer, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” These words come from the mind of mercy, love, peace, compassion, and humility, and it was all propelled and energized by God-sized love. That is the same God-sized love God is asking us to manifest on the earth.

Practicing God-sized love, transforms us with resurrection and power because God is love. Practicing God-sized love destroys the ego-self since it is no longer fed with energy. I want you to think about this, serving the ego-self is like serving a man that cannot satisfied, when you give to the ego-self you will always be demanded more, and in return you get another demand. You can never fulfill the ego-self. It will always ask for more.

Now think about the influence of God on you. God states that you should give so you can receive more of Him. It is quite the contrary. As you give you receive, and when you receive it fulfills you to a greater degree. You become more embodied with God.

Luke 6:38 says: “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

This verse says that “it” will be received by us in the bosom. The word “bosom” in the Greek means, the place within the chest. It can also mean bay, sea, or creek. The general understanding of this word is, space of a vessel. And how is it received? The scripture tells us that it will be “press down, shaken together”, the Greek word for “shaken together” literally means “motion produce by wind”. In other words, the countenance of God upon us manifests to us because we choice to live like God and give like God. So we choose to live more like God we become more filled with God.

Visualize the picture that is reveled in the scriptures. The word of God tells us that we should be good, and to love others no matter what the situation is. In doing so we will receive more of God in us. The picture that is revel to as is that we are vessels of the most high God. We are designed to flow with God. We are to hold infinity love, joy, health, power, wisdom and eternal life. The only thing that stands in the way God’s divine inner flow is the ego self. The desire to receive more, gratifying the ego-self and the ego of superiority.

These are the pedestals that the ego-self builds within us. It gives false hope and false promises. It diminishes our view of God. I believe that's the reason why some live limited lives. Notice also that scripture calls us to give first. God opens the door to us when we give with God-sized love. This is the way to have deeper and more tangible knowledge of God. Transforming our desire to receive selfishly for the sake of the ego, into the desire to give with God-sized love, is the supreme act of turning on the Godhead within us. God’s light and divine nature becomes unobstructed forever, and your right and privileges with God become magnified as God becomes magnified in you.

Within the fabric of the universe, God established the law of reciprocity. It is by this law that God ignites His eternal flow in you. When you give it will be given. This verse literately states that as we selflessly give with God-sized love, more of God will move into us. When God increases His presence within us, we can use our mind, heart, and soul, to our fullest potential and accomplish the impossible because we become influenced and charged with Almighty God.

Then we can say that we are branches of Jesus Christ who do the will of God on the earth and able to do what God calls us to do. Against all odds we are able to fulfill everything that is given to us, in the knowledge of God and succeed as Jesus succeeded despite the odds. No one could stop Him, no one could win an argument with Him. Money and health was never in issue, and the grave couldn't stop Him. Jesus was a living vessel in the flesh, and God is calling us to do the same.
