Breakout From The Toxic Self

Have you ever wondered who you are? I suspect that at one time or another you've had time to reflect on your personality. For some, this can be a frightening thing. Imagine encountering the person who you really are inside and being comfortable with him or her. Not many people can be comfortable with who they are. Many are scarred by broken relationships, self-image issues, dark pasts, and insecurities. Most people when they look inside see the quicksand of unsolved problems and few dare to venture into it.

In my encounters with people from all over the world, Christan and non-Christian alike, I've come to the profound realization that virtually every individual has some type of personality programming designed to deflect contact with the true self.

These personality facades are reactionary thoughts put together to avoid getting to the heart of who we are. We use them to evade exposure to pain and sometimes ugly truths. Sometimes they are seen as defensive mechanisms but can cause more harm because long-term emotional pain can cause insecurity and physical anxiousness or nervousness which lead to sickness.

In 1 Samuel 16:7 we're taught that human beings have two selves. One that is projected to the world and another that exists secretly inside. Of the two, the secret inner world is the most important. If the seeds of fear, disappointment, worry, and trauma take root our self-image will always be questioned creating a toxic mental environment that hinders all future potential. Our underlying emotions determine our behavior and affect how we choose.

Heres the good news, the problem can be fixed.

The unconscious or subconscious is the storehouse of feeling related to memories and creates strong impressions in our mind which help guides us through life. The subconscious can propel people to stardom or depress them to death.

What most people don't know is that God designed us with the capability to change our inner environment. Most people go through life on autopilot. They let life's circumstances affect who they are, how they react to the present moment, and how they plan for the future.

Those who understand the power of the mind transform who they are inside, then take on life with maximum internal effort sometimes creating extraordinary results.

The way to change your life is easy and it's practiced every day by people around the world. Just like you need to exercise to stay physically healthy, you need to mentally exercise to spiritually healthy.

During peak physical training the body sweats, increases heart rate, circulation, and oxygen intake. These metabolic processes play an important role in detoxifying your body while setting up a healthy state. In a similar way, you want to enter the realm of your subconscious mind exercise to expel any toxicity. It may increase some of your metabolic rates but rest assured, once you're done you'll feel better where it counts the most.

Your Subconscious Mind Exercise

Start by taking a comfortable position, preferably sitting down. Close your eyes and take few deep breaths.

After a few minutes, you can begin to internally view, or experience the feelings that most bother you, scare you, or make you anxious.

As you sit quietly explore those feelings. It may be scary to plunge into your hidden feelings but go forward. You may feel as though the feelings may be out of your control. That's fine let express themselves any way they want. They may conjure memories, some you wish never existed. Let all your obscure feelings rise to the surface freely.

They may overwhelm you. If they do express them any way you want, with laughter, tears, words, or any other way you feel best expresses them best. Expressing these feelings is much like dissipation of an infection so healing can begin.

After your feelings have made their way to the surface of your mind let them go. The best and most practiced method is to take a deep breath and exhale. As you exhale watch them leave. Blow them away. You may need to practice this step 3 or 4 times. Do it until you feel lighter or less burdened. The next part of the exercise is the most important part.

Once your subconscious is clear you need to start building a new image, preferably one in the image of God through Christ Jesus who is the perfect image of every human being. For you to proceed with this daily step you need to grasp and absorb the truth of the Bible. You need to make every supernatural idea and divine thought a reality you live internally. Just like your old programming was real and affected who you were the new reality, which is full of hope and power, must now empower an amazing future you can see and feel in the subconscious world.

Once you clear out the inner world from the weight of tangled psychology you should feed your mind with positive thoughts that edify the new liberated you.

Take time to meditate each day on God, His creation, and His life-giving word. Feed your inner being with the food from above and the seeds of strength and possibility will grow into a stride of power.
