Get God's Guidance Through Christian Meditation

Written by: Jeff Ordonez

How often do you walk down a path and wonder which direction to take? Or are faced with a decision and ask yourself what to do. Life can bring many situations that require a keen sense of understanding, which more often than not we just don't have. It's impossible to have enough wisdom and clarity about life and all its ramifications. That kind of understanding is in God's realm, not ours.

That's why in Matthew 6:33 we are instructed to seek God's realm first. In this verse Jesus explains to the crowd that people can easily be drawn into the worry of daily life. Then He goes on to explain a life lesson.

Jesus instructs His followers to stop worrying about daily life and instead seek God's realm where all answers are found. In God's realm, wisdom, love, strength, power, healing, providence, and guidance are ours.

Notice that the instruction calls for us to seek God's counsel in the heavenly realms. To seek the advice of a source outside of ourselves is to admit that we are small, incapable, and in need of a much greater power. Seeking the help of God strips us of our ego while letting humility appear in heart and mind.

Humility is how God's light enters our being and exalts us in every situation with love, grace, and mercy from above. It is how God can move in our lives. The direction we ask for, the strength we need, the motivation that we require, and the vision we seek is delivered when we humble ourselves before God. In Matthew 23:12 Jesus stated "But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."

When we surrender to God, His power and strength is delivered to us with wisdom. The result is perfect and established in His will. Nothing can change it and all attempts to defeat it will fail. But you have to make sure that you humble yourself before God everyday.

In the prayer Jesus taught people He stated "Give us this day our daily bread". If we are not humbly praying to God for daily wisdom, sustenance, guidance, strength, power, inspiration, vision, understanding, providence, healing, health, peace, and love we're probably not receiving it. God may be dispensing His treasure from heaven, but our inner being is locked and blocked from God's gifts because ego can veil heart and mind.

The miracle is that God's entire realm is one humble thought away. The moment we bow our head, the nanosecond we let go of any thought of our capabilities, and relinquish to God's omnipotence, the barrier brakes and the realm of all-sufficiency is open to us.

Get Guidance To Victory

King David was one of the most victorious in the Bible. In 2 Sam 5:19 it states that David inquired of the LORD. This verse describes David asking God what to do, "Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?". Then God answers, "Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands."

Just like David, we need to inquire of the Lord every day and anytime we need to make a decision. The answer will always come from God's small still voice within us. If our minds and ravaged by sin, or carnal thought, we won't be able to hear God small still voice.

In Psalm 46:10 David wrote that if we want to know God we need to be still. It is in the stillness of moments that we can hear God's voice and receive direction. Be still.

The word still in the original Hebrew means to relax, let go, cease (thought), to be quiet (of mind), in other words, to meditate.

In 1 Kings 19:11-13 after a massive military victory, Elijah enters a supernatural state of mind where he experiences turbulence with God. After the turbulence Elijah enters into a state of perfect stillness where the voice of God was heard.

It's been noted that the stillness of meditation changes the brain. Studies have shown that long term practice of meditation increase grey matter density in the brain. Because our cognitive process is enhanced, we become, smarter, more creative, and have better memory.

God designed the human body to benefit from being still, and according to David and Elijah it is the way to hear God's voice, get direction, and become victorious.

If you want to follow the greatest biblical personalities and go from victory to victory with guidance from God you may consider humbling your self in meditation.
