How Christian Meditation Resolves Past Issues

Written by: Jeff Ordonez

Is there a legitimate connection between Christian meditation and optimal mental health? You may think you know, but hold off on what you may hold true. There is an excellent chance that when it comes to how meditation improves mental and emotional health, you may only know a small part.

Does Meditation Really Help?

If you do a little research and check out the average life spans for where you live, whether you are male or female, and then compare those numbers to a century ago, you will probably find that we are living longer than at any other time in history. A number of profound developments in the sciences have contributed to our longevity. Another contributing factor is the that mental health care has been taken more seriously than in the past. In addition, our awareness of food and how it affects the body has generally greater degrees of concern today than before.

Keeping all of this in mind, have you considered the potential benefits of Christian meditation? More importantly, have you ever considered how this type of meditation can serve to benefit your overall mental health?

If not, it’s time to do something about it. The more you learn about meditation and emotional/mental health, the more excited you are likely going to become.

Creating A Bridge Between Meditation And Mental Health

Mindfulness meditation refers to the act of living in the present. When we can focus everything we think and feel on the present moment, we arrive at a calming eternal center with God. Through this calming center, which draws on talents and energies you really do possess, you can diminish stress and anxiety to a significant degree. If you are the kind of person who feels as though they are constantly living in the past, to the point of such thoughts being detrimental to your mental health, it stands to reason that you can benefit greatly from Christian meditation.

To put it another way, if you are the kind of person who is rendered nearly frozen with fears and anxiety over the future, you may want to delve deeper into the kind of meditation we are talking about. I am referring to a brand of meditation that deals with everything through Christ and His point of view.

Mindful meditation compels us to focus on our breathing. Through this simple act, your focus is going to begin shifting further and further into the moment you are actually living in. As you do this, you will begin to move away from thoughts of your past or future.

Focusing on our breathing, and looking to who we are, what we are, and where we are in the eternal present moment with Jesus, can produce an immensely useful state of relaxation. As time goes on, and as you become more and more adept at your mind will naturally rest in eternity with God. The better you become at Christian mediation, the easier it is going to be to manage your life, thoughts, and ultimately stress.

And as innumerable studies have shown us, healthful, proactive stress management tips are vital to our mental health. Remember that when we talk about the elements that create the ideal conditions for being the healthiest Christians we can possibly be, mental and emotional health is going to be near to the top of the list.

Positive people have a considerable potential to live longer lives. This is not to say that pure positivity is the one and only key to a long, happy life. Diet, exercise, and getting a good night’s sleep are just a few of the additional things you should be doing, when it comes to living a longer life.

However, to deny the potential of meditating and focusing in Jesus, our Savior, is to deny something that could propel us into an entirely new levels of spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical wellness.

Christian Meditation Tips

Focus on your breathing. Focus on the heart of your loving relationship with Christ. Think about how these things exist in the present. Consider how these are thoughts and acts that are no way tied to a specific point in your life. They are immediate, present, and eternal. They are in the moment which God exists in - infinity. The deeper into these things you go, the easier it is going to be to achieve a state of pure, glorious oneness with God's Spirit.

After reaching this point and dwelling in peace with God for a few minutes, your mind will return to the rigors and particulars of everyday life. At the same time, you are going to feel like an entirely new person. Once you have created a road to pure Christian mindfulness, you will find it easy enough to access this road as you please. Make this road an integral part of your life and the benefits will literally remain with you the rest of your life.

The Glory Of Christian Meditation

One could make the case that this simple meditation not only benefits our mental health, but also strengthens our relationship to Christ. Simultaneously, we are both praising Him, adoring Him, and turning to Him for a moment in His boundless love and power. Be blessed.
