MEDITATION MIND BODY SPIRITUALITY

How To Do Wonders With Christian Meditation

Author: Jeffrey Ordonez

The Bible states... You were wonderfully and fearfully made. God created you in His image and He loved you the moment He thought your soul into existence. He loves you more than anything.

So why are you feeling down? When it comes to the human mind we are confronted with the reality that our mind produces thought at the rate of one per second. That's right. Your brain generates approximately 40,000 to 60,000 thoughts a day and nearly 80% of it is negative.

In a very informative article written by Athena Staik, Ph.D. it's discloses that the human body is a network of neurological communication. So what starts in the mind makes it's way through the entire body. Our body is literally designed and built for information flow.

Dr. Caroline Leaf, a cognitive neuroscientist with a PhD in Communication Pathology and a BSc in Logopedics and Audiology, points out that toxic thought has a toxic effect on the body.

Take fear for instance, her research shows that fear alone, triggers approximately 1,400 physical and chemical responses in the body which stimulates more than 30 different hormones to be released, overtime these reactions can produce ill effects.

The doctor points out that toxic thoughts can cause illnesses like asthma, diabetes, skin problems, allergies, and even cancer.

Thoughts affect mental and physical health. From anxiety, self esteem, depression, to even allergies, the mind has potent effect on the body.

If we were wonderfully and fearfully made why are we still affected by sickness, financial difficulties, and poor relationships? The truth is we are carnal, and carnality is susceptible to carnal thought, and carnal thought sends debilitating signals throughout the body, affecting how we think, feel, and what we do.

Carnal thought is not of God. It is whispered to us by an invisible enemy. These spiritual whispers can affect the mind. They influence tens of thousands of subconscious thoughts. They are enemies of God and anything God created in His image—you. They exalt themselves over the knowledge of God and try to control the mind, which controls your life.

So we must be diligent to take control of our mind. Any subconscious thought that springs up which cause doubt, fear, worry, or anxiousness must be observed, recognized, and then change it with a new transformative thought - preferably from scripture.

Here's how God's word describes it:

"We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, (the Word)" ~ 2 Corinthians 10:5

Rick Hanson's (psychologist at the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, at Berkeley) research agrees with this biblical precept. He states that we can tame negative thought cycles by simply, being aware of them, acknowledging them, and then challenging them with new thought.

What's interesting is that Dr. Hanson recommends not to fight negative thought because it amplifies its power. Biblical instruction states the same—we simply acknowledge they exist and then eradicate them by God's word.

Following the recommendations from all three doctors we can assume that a mind full of heavenly thought will produce good health and well-being. Well, Harvard Medical School has already the research. A person who has hope, who thinks of beautiful thoughts, who loves, who lives by faith, and who is eternally optimistic lives longer, is healthier, and makes better decisions.

So science is proving biblical instruction true. Proverbs 4:22 states that if we retain God's word as the thought of the mind our body will experience health. God's wisdom also brings understanding, wealth, and prosperity.

Philippians 4:8 says this:

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."

The best and most effective way of diminishing the power of negative thought is through meditation. By meditating on God we will be confronted with uncontrolled thought and negativity. This is the best time to make captive unrestrained thought with God's word. As you practice this technique, the power that exalts itself over the knowledge of God will slowly begin to diminish, then God and His peace will be more apparent.

Perfect this practice and your thoughts, as well as your subconscious thoughts, will be more driven by life-giving thought rather than destructive thought. Now is the time to start controlling your mind, your health, and your future.

God bless you. See you in the kingdom.
