Maybe there are things in your life you don't like and don't want to face. Maybe it's your body, your bank account, your debt, maybe it's a relationship. Maybe you just don't feel good, or maybe you just don't want the day to begin.
I'm going to give you two cures that break the attitude of defeat and retreat. Anxiety, worry, insecurity, procrastination, low self-esteem, and self-doubt are all mental habits. They are mental behaviors repeated in the mind. As the pattern is repeated it becomes automatic.
The number one skill you need to master is mental self-discipline. When you control the habits of your mind, you control the quality of your life and therefore the results of your life.
The second most important skill you can develop is the study and meditation of God's word. Now I'm going to show you how to use these principles to your benefit in controlling your mind.
There is nothing more hurtful or damaging, than an error in one's thought. It can make mountains out of molehills and severely debilitate a person.
Romans 12:2 states that we should not conform to thinking patterns not aligned with God or His potential in us. Instead, we are taught to take action and decide to change, and if we do we will find God's will and power in our life.
This message resonates with the concept that if we control how we think we let more of God to enter into our lives. Now take a look at John 14:23.
“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home."
If we meditate to conform our mind to God's word, God will increase His presence in us. That's how everything changes. But we need to begin by uprooting, dispelling, and casting out every thought behavior that imprisons us from moving freely with God's energy.
This is how you do it.
First, you need to decide to become self-aware of any thought pattern that distresses you. For example, every time you walk by your desk and see an unpaid bill, you get a sinking feeling in your stomach. That mental pattern zaps the creativity which is a form of energy that helps us keep winning.
Second, decide to change the mental habit. Romans 12:2 says you are in charge of creating a new psychological pattern, so immediately replace it with something positive. The best psychology you can draw from is the Bible. You can say something like, "God gives me the power to do all things through Christ who strengthens me." "In the power of Jesus Christ, this bill is gone and paid in full."
You may have to repeat this process 20, 30, 40 or more times per day to reshape and change your mind. The method will eventually override the negative thinking pattern in your brain.
The process will release mental and spiritual energy that will transform how you think, feel, speak, and act. It will organize your mental, emotional, and spiritual life while preserving the natural force that keeps us motivated. It will keep you in harmony and in touch with divine energy.
In John 14:23 Jesus explains that if you cultivate your mind with the study and meditation of God's word you will feel an increase in God's in you.
We are finally coming to understand that the condition of our health is mostly determined by the condition of our mind and spirit.
If you want to take the process to the highest level, this is what you do. Get up early in the morning and spend two to three hours studying and meditating on God's word.
Not only will you create brand new neurological patterns in your brain which will cause you to think and feel differently, but the promise from the Son of God is that the Father's presence will increase in you. Which means you will operate with greater strength, power, determination, and vision.
Train with this process for three to four months, and you'll be a completely different person. I know by experience because I've tested the principle myself and saw surprising results in my health, finances, and relationships. The words of Jesus are true and are written in red to benefit you.
If for some reason you can't follow the principle, I suggest you listen to our meditations with Biblical affirmations which are recorded in the first person and present tense. They help you relax so your brain is more adaptable to God's word.
The important thing is that you take action to improve your state of mind. The process I just outlined is a way to decrease the amount of error in thought while increasing the amount of truth.
Constant and continuous action changes the circumstances of life, and the knowledge of truth guides us in the right direction. Start changing a little today, and tomorrow will be a little bit different, and so will the next, and the next.
