The Greatest Biblical Meditation You Can Practice

You want to follow Jesus in His footsteps. You want divine inspiration to lead you and guide you. You want to clearly see and hear the Lord. Now is your chance.

There are many things you can do to cultivate closeness with God. This includes studying His word early in the morning and later at night. You can also dedicate yourself to a deeply devotional prayer life. Praise and worship is also very effective. But there is one word, one commandment, that gets to the heart of total and absolutely intimacy with God - love.

Without love you have very little. In fact, love is the foundation of God's greatest commandment to us. In both the New and Old Testament God commands His people to love His with all their heart, soul, and mind.

The Dawn of a New Future For You

Let's analyze what Jesus called the greatest commandment. (Matthew 22:37) When we scrutinize the instruction it would seem impossible to follow. Take for example loving God with all you mind. For this to happen we would have to assume that the mind is completely silent so it can have one true focus, to love God. This includes deep subconscious thought which occurs constantly.

The only way to observe this part of the commandment then, is to train ourselves. We must first develop the understanding that the brain is constantly producing thought. We must be able to see it for what it is, busy. From that perspective we need to let the brain quiet down until there is virtually no thought.

Once we enter into a state of mental stillness we can begin to love God with all our mind.

We can say the same about the heart, and the soul. Even one thought, emotion, and desire can become a barrier, a shadow if you will, to God's glory.

If you practice the mental discipline outlined in Matthew 22:37 a new dawn will rise in your future. Your new found closeness to God will elevate your inner being with illumination from above. The spiritual riches you find will outweigh all the riches of the earth. Life as the branch will be your evident reality. (John 15:5)
