Most people of great success or spiritual prowess come from humble beginnings. Victory was not a written destiny for them. The qualities of all success are within each, all that is necessary is a conscious choice over the condition of our inner being.
I am always amazed by how often well-meaning people propagate the meditation myth. I know these individuals have good intentions, but too often meditation is peddled as the cure-all for all ailments.
As the leader of many thousands seeking to improve, I can tell you that meditation on its own is not the answer. My experience has shown that people with stress, anxiety, or depression may suffer actually from greater symptoms by taking up the practice.
Relaxation-induced anxiety is a phenomenon you may not have heard. It's very real and very frightening for those who experience it. This kind of agitation can occur when a person relaxes or practices meditation.
Instead of feeling peace and the person may feel uncomfortable, anxious, or agitated as a result of relaxing. Although the counterintuitive reaction applies to a minority in the range of 10% to 30%, it is a signal that the "meditation is good for you" has a weakness.
In very general terms, anxiety occurs as a physical biochemical response to a perceived threat and fear comes from how we think. Being still and relaxing will often bring to mind worries and fears creating a mental roller coaster ride for the participant.
What seems like a solution can actually boost cortisol, the stress-inducing hormone. In this state, your body launches the catabolic process,
a metabolic reaction that happens within a cell when molecular bonds break.
When molecular bonds are broken you lose muscle mass. It effectively breaks down muscle over time and deteriorates tissue. Because the catabolic reaction expends far more energy than an anabolic response, the process of rebuilding, it often leads to burnout. And when the body's energy is used up, a dip in motivation occurs and an overall feeling of fatigue usually follows.
So what's the answer? To make a success of your inner life with or without meditation is simple. There is strong scientific evidence that negative emotions promote higher levels of cortisol in the body while positive emotions encourage the natural production of DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) a tissue building, health boosting, and anti-aging hormone manufactured by the adrenal glands and the brain.
On a side note, I would strongly advise consulting a doctor before taking any DHEA supplement. DHEA supplements can cause serious side effects.
Your answer comes as a choice you can execute every moment of your life, including during meditation. All you need to do is use the gift of choice, and the way to use it is by being aware of your emotional state and then consciously changing it to something new.
Meditation, relaxation, and similar types of training are of little use if your body is coping with loads of life-destroying hormones. Supernatural flow with God is impossible when we feel negative.
The quality you need to develop a radiant life with God is to make a conscious decision is always to feel positive. Feel good about yourself, life, and God sets in motion the biological wheels in your body.
When you make an effort to feel positive emotions like enthusiasm, hope, optimism, faith, curiosity, creativity, love, passion, and thousands more you create by your own choice a positive cycle between mind and body.
It is much easier to flow with God when we experience positive emotions. The reason why our miraculous relationship with God deepens is that the emotions we feel are spiritual qualities, and spiritual qualities can be either positive or negative.
Take, for example, love. Love is a spiritual attribute equal to God himself. In 1 John 4:16 scripture tells us that God is love, so if we experience love, we experience God.
Tests now show positive physical reactions to positive emotions and the virtuous cycles they create.
The problem with most meditative techniques is that when we drop into these relaxed states with levels of cortisol, we further enhance the catabolic state which seriously interferes with our health.
The key is to a healthy vibrant life is positive feelings and emotions.
