Christian Meditation Technique

So just get in a comfortable position and close your eyes.

Take a deep breath I through the nose for about 5 seconds and exhale though your mouth.

Now start by mentally picturing the breath entering and exiting your body.

As you breathe feel your body begin to relax. Relax.

Take another slow gentle deep breathe for about 5 seconds and now hold for 3 to 5 seconds.

And exhale through the mouth. Now feel your body relax.

Feel your arms and legs relax. Take another slow gentle deep breath hold for a few seconds...

and exhale.

Feel the rest of your body relax. Your abdomen, back, chest, neck, and head.

Relax. Feel your whole body relax.

At this moment there's no need to have any notion about your body. Just let your body relax. Just take a break from all activity. Relax.

At this point you might realize that you have some tension around different parts of your body.

Take another slow gentle deep breathe, hold for a few seconds.

and exhale. As you exhale release all the tension out of your body. Feel more relaxed.

Relax for about 10 seconds.

Let your breathing pattern go to normal and observe how your breath enters and exits your body.

At this level of mind you can more fully dwell in Christ. Begin to mentally say “Yes” on the inhale and “Jesus” on the exhale.

Mentally saying “Yes” on the inhalation is your way of accepting Jesus into your body.

Mentally saying “Jesus” on the exhalation is your way of allowing Jesus to dwell in you more fully as your Savior.

Yes... Jesus...

Take 30 seconds to do this step.

Feel Jesus' Spirit fill your body. Feel Jesus' power and light become a part of your body as you breathe.

Do this for a minute or two.

If you feel that you got distracted. Simply observe the thought for what it is - a thought. Then go back and begin to feel Jesus as you breathe.

Do this for about a minute or two.

It's perfectly normal for the mind to wander. When this happens just observe the thought for what it is, then go back feel Jesus in your breath by saying, “Yes Jesus”, “Yes Jesus”

Do this for a couple more minutes.

Relax.

Now let go of your thought of Jesus and let your mind be. Allow your mind to just be

Now bring your attention back to your body.

Do this for a few seconds.

Start to become more aware of your posture, what your sitting on, and your surroundings.

Gently start moving your fingers and hands.

Now you can start moving your feet, maybe your neck.

Now you can start thinking of the room you're in. Let your mind become attentive and aware.

Very gently and slowly open your eyes. You can take 20 or 30 seconds to open your eyes. Or you can take longer.

Now  slowly your eyes open, stretch if you like, and just sit back and relax for a few moments.

So how does it feel to take a break from the world. Do you feel a little calmer? More relaxed?

Don't worry if you experienced distracting thought. It's perfectly normal for the mind to wander. The thing to remember is that even though your mind may wander the meditation still has a positive affect on your body.

The most important factor in getting the most out of meditation is consistency. If you practice it regularly your meditation can dramatically improve who you are. For now just relax and appreciate the time you spent worshiping Jesus.
