Why are Christian mantras so powerful? The reason why so many people are benefiting, and why so many attracted to the ancient meditation art, is because our bodies were designed by God to ease into a state of tranquility through focused prayer, thereby cleansing our mind of carnal mental deposits.
Let me explain.
In 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 the apostle Paul writes to fellow believers that we are children of Light and as such we are destined to live fully awake in our Lord Jesus Christ, not the world. He instructs believers to be of good (God) nature and to abstain from all evil. In the middle of his lesson he tells readers to "pray without ceasing" as a way to remain focused on God.
That means at all times we must utter prayerful words to the Lord. In whispers, audible words, and in the quietness of our heart we should be engaged in loving worship toward God. But very few perform this wise precept.
In a myriad of studies published by US National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health, it's been unequivocally demonstrated that the subconscious mind is very powerful and can be trained, stimulated, and is very flexible. The studies point out that subconscious thought patterns are a product of exposure.
So if a person works 8 hours a day and comes home to watch 3 to 4 hours of television, the subconscious mind will produce mental byproducts of everything it received that day. The effect becomes compounded when the same daily habits are repeated over days, weeks, months, and years. The unceasing "prayer" or murmurings of the subconscious mind becomes reflections of the world that it is exposed to, not God. These subliminal transmissions will eventually find their way to the forefront of our mind. This is not a good scenario, because sin starts from within. If the carnal food of the mind isn't halted, or least neutralized in some way, action will soon follow.
This is a frightening prospect since the typical life pattern for most people in developing nations is exactly as described. It's no coincidence that rates of stress, anxiety, and depression are among the highest in leading economic regions.
There are a couple ways to neutralize, and even completely reverse the effects of carnal exposure. You can change your daily habits, but refraining from work and exposure to the world is usually an unrealistic option. In John 14:23, Jesus states that anyone who loves Him will "keep" His word, and anyone who follows this advice will receive God's increased presence.
"Keeping" God's word requires daily quiet meditative study. The kind of study that takes 2 to 8 hours daily. Combined with prayer, the experience transforms heart, soul, mind, and body more into God's likeness. If you can follow this technique, it is by far the best and most profound practice you can adopt in your journey. If not, continuous unceasing prayer is extremely powerful especially when patterned after God's word.
The subliminal effect it has on the subconscious and conscious mind, is that it uproots, replaces, and renders powerless the ill thoughts steamed by the world. Continuous prayer holds our attention, utilizes our breath (God's gift to you), and places us in a position of humility so God can be exalted rather than the world.
Prayer mantras are in fact affirmations molded around God's word. The more you say them, the more you hear them, the more you think about them, the more they become part of your life. The 3 Most Powerful Christian Meditation Mantra Chants You Can Practice
Start by getting up a little earlier than usual, say 20 minutes. Go straight to a private place, close the door Give your life to God through prayer, then chant. The volume of your chant will depend on your situation. If you don't want to disturb others, you'll want to tone it down. If you're completely alone and it doesn't matter how loud you get, go for it!
Chant for about 20 minutes, or longer if you can. I've gone up to 4 hours, but it takes practice with gradual time increments. You can chant with your eyes open or closed, it just depends on what you like. I like to have my eyes closed as it's a way to close the door on the world for a while. This also helps me concentrate.
If your mind starts to wonder during your chant practice, simply re-focus your mind on the words of your chant. It's actually quite easy to focus your attention on chants.
After you're done you'll notice a lingering effect. It will seem as if the prayer chant is on auto pilot. This means your mind and subconscious mind are in harmony with continual prayer and carnality has been rendered powerless. Good job.
Let the quiet autonomous prayer continue, don't stop it. After you leave your meditation space whisper it under your breath. Let if flow through your mind and heart. Whisper it, or say it aloud, while you shower, get dressed, and as you enter your place of work. Let the continual prayer be alive in you.
As you engage in daily activity, whisper your prayer, hear it in your mind, carry it with you in your heart. It's as simple as that. Practice this technique for the next 30 days and your life will seem a little brighter and more glorious.
The Prayer Mantra Chants
1. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, glory to thee our God. (Repeat 3 times)
2. Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy. Glory to the Father, to the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
3. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and glory of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Say these three chants repeatedly for 10 to 20 minutes each day early in the morning. Longer practices yield the best results. You can also practice them again at night before going to bed for even better results.
