Live Free With Self Control
In a world full of events our hearts and minds are constantly triggered to feel one way or another, and as human beings we have emotions. Our emotions if not controlled can magnify any scenario, or situation, we encounter in life. If we let our thoughts and feelings proceed without check it can harm us.
Our emotions have the power to change us. They can zap our energy, or they can make us feel like superman, which leads me to believe that emotions can change us physiologically. So God gave us emotions, thoughts, and feelings as a power, or tool, that can serve us or hinder us.
Very few people though, discipline themselves to control the power God has given us. Without control, the spiritual inner being we call emotions can negatively impact us. Our emotions are invisible force fields that affect how we feel. This is ground the enemy loves to control, and if we're not careful we will be manipulated, eventually finding ourselves in a mess wondering how we got there.
God gave us another power as well. God gave us wisdom which employs common sense, logic, and awareness which can be used to lead a quite and peaceful internal life.
Colossians 3:15 states that we should be led by peace in making decisions, which requires control of one's mind and heart, and without common sense thinking, logic, and awareness of self we can make ill fated decisions. If we could hear wisdom, she would say, "Stop! Think! Become aware!" Following wisdom's advice our eyes would open to spiritual reality where evil forces are in constant battle with good forces, and we're in the middle!
Being aware of wisdom's whisper is enough for us to make the right decision. being full aware of our thoughts and feelings will always lead to common sense logical decision that enables God in our life, rather than hinder Him.
Practicing this type of discipline will lead us in maturity with God. In His power we will live mindful of not only our mental state, but the mental state of others, and become wise enough on how each is best served.
Emotional ups and downs and mood swings which is so hard on us becomes a thing of the past when we practice wisdom and awareness. Guilt, shame, and embarrassment, evaporate in our daily practice seeks to dwell more deeply in Jesus.
But that can't happen unless we have a template to guide our mind. The perfect wisdom we have is the Bible. The word contains thoughts from God, and if we imprint God's thoughts in our mind, our mind becomes illuminated with His thoughts.
So here's a list of Bible verse that you can meditate on daily until your psychology changes. As they become the messages you concentrate on daily they will become the affirmations your mind follows as thought patterns, a key element in gaining spiritual strength and self control.
